Mental Wellness: Local and Global Approaches
Ms Wong Soon Fen
What is mental wellness? How do we define ‘(ab)normal’? How do communities across different countries and cultures perceive and promote mental health and resilience? How do the government, society and family contribute to mental wellness? What roles can medical approaches, mindfulness and mindsets play? This course explores the key concepts and approaches to mental wellness across disciplines, ideologies and cultures. We will examine different perspectives in Singapore and beyond to appreciate the mental health landscape at the global, local and individual levels.
We would like to encourage everyone who enjoyed using CAPT Courses (previously known as CAPTMods) to contribute back to the community by writing reviews for courses that you have taken before. Your efforts will go a long way in building up a vibrant and rich CAPT academic environment!
1. Because the experience of each course will differ according to the professor teaching the course, at the start of your review, please state the semester taken and the name of the professor who taught the course in that semester.
2. Other students will read your review to get an idea of what taking the course will be like and this may affect their course registration choices. As such, please maintain objectivity when leaving your review and take note that we will go through a moderation process before reviews get posted.
3. The experiences alleged in these reviews have not been verified by CAPT or CAPT Courses. Please take all anecdotes with a grain of salt.
