Generation Y: Transitions to Adulthood
Dr Lavanya Balachandran
This course explores the changes in the life transition from adolescence to adulthood in today’s developed world. We will look at some of the popular understandings of emerging adulthood by studying an age group of people called “adultolescents”, “twixters”, or “kippers”.
We will also critically analyse aspects of emerging adulthood with regards to education, job opportunities, love and marriage, as well as parenting. Finally, we reflect on the kind of citizens these emerging adults are becoming, how they can engage in the community and what the future holds for them.
We would like to encourage everyone who enjoyed using CAPT Courses (previously known as CAPTMods) to contribute back to the community by writing reviews for courses that you have taken before. Your efforts will go a long way in building up a vibrant and rich CAPT academic environment!
1. Because the experience of each course will differ according to the professor teaching the course, at the start of your review, please state the semester taken and the name of the professor who taught the course in that semester.
2. Other students will read your review to get an idea of what taking the course will be like and this may affect their course registration choices. As such, please maintain objectivity when leaving your review and take note that we will go through a moderation process before reviews get posted.
3. The experiences alleged in these reviews have not been verified by CAPT or CAPT Courses. Please take all anecdotes with a grain of salt.
