Stella
Stella is an ACE committee under the College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT) that engages Primary 5 children from disadvantaged backgrounds through value-based activities and mentorship. Stella aims to create meaningful connections between mentors and mentees, empowering both to grow through shared stories, empathy, and reflection. Our engagements are designed not only to teach soft skills and moral values, but also to help CAPTains understand the realities of underprivileged communities, fostering social awareness and inclusivity.

Directors' Message
To us, Community Engagement (CE) means working with our beneficiaries and creating meaningful connections through mutual respect and shared learning. It’s about understanding the real needs of beneficiaries and taking action that leaves a lasting impact.
We’re most looking forward to work with our Executive Committee, Volunteers and building genuine relationships—with both our community partners and our beneficiaries—learning from diverse experiences and perspectives.
We hope to grow into compassionate individuals who engage with empathy and purpose. Through our time in ACE and our work with the children, we aim to build genuine connections and learn how to serve communities in meaningful and sustainable ways. Ultimately, we hope to inspire others to continue this cycle of learning, reflection, and giving back.

Pre-engagements
Across our pre-engagement sessions, CAPTains came together to bond within their family groups and build team spirit before meeting the children. They received guidance from our Training and Development Head on effective communication with children and how to handle different scenarios with empathy and confidence.
Each family group also planned their engagement sessions, designing activities that align with Stella’s values and objectives.
Looking ahead, we’ll be having additional training sessions led by experienced volunteers from our community partner, where CAPTains will take part in scenario-based learning. These sessions will help them apply what they’ve learned to real-life situations, preparing them to engage the children with greater understanding, adaptability, and care.
