PACE

PACE works closely with Mercylight, a shelter and sanctuary for dogs in need. Through walking, feeding, and cleaning up after shelter dogs, engagers not only gain valuable insights into the world of vulnerable animals, but also learn more about the work that goes behind caring for them. PACE strives to nurture empathy, patience and confidence in engagers as they make a positive impact on shelter dogs and their communities.

Directors' Message

I think a core memory for us is having a great finale and seeing the effort of all the engagers for the sem, and seeing all the happy dawgs. We hope to see all the engagers enjoy interacting with the dawgs, and we hope to provide a safe and enjoyable time for the dawgs too ❤️

Pre-engagements

At PACE’s pre-engagement, engagers listened to an insightful sharing on what they could expect during volunteering sessions. They learned about the routines of each session and the duties they would take on as volunteers. Engagers were also equipped with knowledge on the body language of dogs, allowing them to better understand how they can respect and meet the needs of the dogs at the shelter. With two lovely dogs who made their way from Mercylight to CAPT, engagers had a chance to interact with and practise walking them, boosting their confidence in working with animals.

Engagement & Impact

  1. During each PACE session, engagers walk, feed, and provide physical therapy or medication for the shelter dogs. Through these activities, engagers not only grow in empathy for the dogs, but also learn the importance of patience and compassion when working with animals who do not share the same language as us. PACE sessions also raise awareness on the behind-the-scenes work of running a shelter and creating a safe, comfortable living space for vulnerable animals. Through these hands-on experiences, engagers develop a deeper understanding of animal welfare and what more we can do to support dogs in need.
