CAPTSLAM Townsquare

CAPTSLAM Townsquare works with Secondary 3 ‘Values in Action' leaders from New Town Secondary School through values-based mentoring grounded in the MICEE leadership framework. The programme features weekly mentoring sessions, an engagement day with various community partners, and concludes with an Overseas Learning Trip (OSL) to Chiang Mai, Thailand!

Director's Message

Hi! I’m Marcus, and welcome to our Town! At CAPTSLAM Townsquare, our aim is to empower our participants to become student leaders who anchor themselves to their core values, and to inspire a heart of service within our mentees for the communities around them. Through values-based mentoring and utilising the MICEE framework, we believe that the interactions between our CAPTains and mentees from New Town Secondary School can facilitate meaningful conversations and establish a long-lasting bond with each other even beyond the programme itself!

For our CAPTSLAMMERS, learning and experiencing what mentoring is can enrich our understanding of the youth scene in Singapore, and allow us to empathise with the youths of today. At CAPTSLAM Townsquare, you can have the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals, have fun, and equip yourself with valuable skills to empathise and communicate with the various communities around us!

Projects

Weekly Sessions
Guided by the MICEE Leadership, our weekly sessions are grounded in values, aligned with the theme of each iteration. These sessions are designed by our mentors, who have full autonomy in determining how to engage their mentees. This approach allows mentors to hone their planning skills and take ownership of the programme.
Headspace Sessions
Our Headspace Sessions are conducted within the committee and range between planning, committee bonding, training with external speakers, and growth charting! As a close-knit team, Townsquare mentors collaborate across various sub-committees, planning groups, and family groups, ensuring that each member has the opportunity to work closely with every peer and build meaningful connections within the committee.
Chiang Mai Trip
During Summer break, our mentors embark on an 8-day, 7-night OSL trip to Chiang Mai. We aim to gain valuable insights into Chiang Mai’s rich culture and environment, and experience the warmth of its people at landmarks such as Doi Inthanon National Park, Mon Jam Flower Field, Chiang Mai University, and Baan Kang Wat Artist Village! Undoubtedly, the highlight of the trip is the three days spent at Ban Pa Mueat School where we conduct activities with the local students!
